Early Life: A Childhood Among Trees and Blueprints

Born in the hill station of Mahabaleshwar, Neel grew up close to nature. His father was a civil engineer, and his mother a forest conservationist. From a young age, he was exposed to both structure and sustainability. Weekend treks, nature journals, and watching his father draft plans lit a creative spark that later shaped his professional calling.

After earning a Bachelor of Architecture from CEPT University, Ahmedabad, he completed his Master’s in Environmental Design at TU Delft, Netherlands, where he specialized in sustainable architecture and passive design systems.

Launching GreenGrid Innovations: Where Cities Meet Sustainability

In 2016, Neel launched GreenGrid Innovations, a purpose-driven firm focused on sustainable architecture, climate-resilient buildings, and green community projects. From eco-villages in Maharashtra to green schools in Rajasthan, the firm has led over 150 projects with one unifying idea — nature and cities can coexist.

GreenGrid also runs consulting programs for smart city missions and partners with government bodies on waste management, urban farming, and renewable energy deployment in housing colonies.

Outside of work, Neel is a certified yoga instructor and practices permaculture on his family’s 3-acre plot near Lavasa. He often holds weekend workshops on natural building techniques and eco-conscious living.

An avid photographer, Neel documents his travels to remote ecological communities in India, capturing everything from Ladakhi mud homes to tribal bamboo settlements.

Empowering the Next Generation
